"My experience here at ITEA has been worthwhile and outstanding to say the least these past two and a half years. Part of this, I feel, is due to finding positive healing modalities having a tremendous affect on my physical body where my major stress is and complimenting my spiritual healing practices. All of these have then had a more powerful and faster synergistic affect on my over all healing process and augmenting the growth of my inner connection to the divine [chi]." - Dr. David Hartman Turner

Traditional Track Course of StudyThe first two years of the program consist of four Intensive class sessions of 15 days. Intensives usually occur in September, October-November, January-February and April-May. During the first year students are taught basic facts, natural laws and concepts. While these are reviewed and learned in more depth in the second year, the focus is on training in sensory discernment rather than intellectual activity. Clinical practice is begun in the third year and continues the learning and personal development of students through interaction with clients. Since students will be living locally for the third and following years, the third year has two 16-day Intensives with interspersed short courses, one Intensive in August-September and the other in January-February. Throughout each year students continue written work, practice management and the practice of acupuncture skills when not in class. Each student is required to have a satisfactory understanding of the prior years’ course work in order to advance to the following year. Practitioner Track Course of StudyClassroom training consists of one 4-day weekend each month for a year, and clinical training follows until the student is proficient in Clasiscal Five-Element Acupuncture (CF-EA). The format is geared toward enabling students to work while in school. The first classroom weekends focus on basic facts within CF-EA, while the following classroom weekends focus on sensory discernment necessary for its practice. The clinical classroom weekends begin clinical training, after which clients are treated at the ITEA student clinic and outside work is evaluated and discussed. Throughout each month students do homework related to the learning obtained during the weekend. Each student is tested periodically and required to have a satisfactory understanding of the prior work in order to advance in the program.
